This is my baby! I wanted to do something besides flowers! I've always loved this picture of her (sitting on top of me, teasing me, while I was wrapped like a burrito in a quilt, at Santa Cruz beach). She bought me this long and skinny canvas, and this "crop" is what inspired me. It's very stylistic - like the way the shadow, her eye, and eyeliner are all green, and the way everything is inside a sort of line-drawing. This canvas is a 15x30.

Kayli's Purple Pansies
Pink flowers
My second in my garden series ... pink flowers I got at church on Mother's Day. What are they, geramiums? There was so little contrast when I looked into their faces! I had to "feel" the picture, the way Laci was trying to get me to do! Sometimes they seem a little "circusy." But mostly, I feel a warmth from within. This is probably the most abstract of my flowers.

Orange Daisies or "Analogous Augus"t
These orange daisies were my favorite bush of the summer. They were also my first painting. (One of three of my garden series.) I was pretty clueless when I began, but I used a series of glazes, adding highlights and lowlights the way I'd been taught. What turned out was an analogous painting... not what I expected, but I loved it!

Purple Pansy
One of the first flowers I wanted to paint was a purple pansie. They have a beautiful face, and so many colors - purple, blue and pink! The leaves are also pretty and delicate! This was the third of my own garden series. I loved my pretty front yard flowers this year, and wanted to paint them to keep the memory!

About my art
I have been doing florals of acrylic lately. I like big flowers with high contrast. I have done reds, pinks, purples and blues. I enjoy the leaves too. I have been fortunate to have requests for my paintings so far. The price for these paintings is $200 for a 20x24 or $500 for a 30x40. Other sizes are available.
